Count and control keys
List every key you were given and what it opens. Assume previous owners, tenants, tradespeople or agents may still hold copies.
Rekeying or replacing the main entry locks is the simplest way to reset access.
Walk every entry point
Front and back doors, side gates, garage access doors, sliding doors and windows. Older period homes in Strathfield and Concord often have mixed hardware added over decades.
Consider keying alike
Where the locks are compatible, several doors can often work on one key — fewer keys to lose and fewer copies to track.
Renting?
Check your lease before changing locks and speak with your landlord or agent where required.
